Chapter 1 of the dispute between Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner started with the Grammy Awards in February. Beyonce introduced Tina for a performance and called her "the queen." This hurt Aretha's feelings and she issued a statement calling it "a cheap shot for controversy." Well now, Franklin is once again taking exception to remarks on the subject. In a recent USA Today interview, Turner called Aretha the "queen of soul" and herself the "queen of rock." When asked about the Grammys spat, Tina said, "There were so many kings and queens there that night. Her ego must be so big to think she was the only one." Franklin responded with a statement saying Turner had to have been talking about her own ego, because Tina, quote, "does not have a clue as to who I am." Believe it or not, Tina and Aretha have supposedly never met! I'm thinking it's going to stay that way. Tina is currently on tour for the first time in 8 years.
