There is a cool site that I have really enjoyed looking at called Cool Hunting. Basically, it is a site that features new art, design, interiors, innovations and all kinds of neat stuff. There are always new items that I want to grab as a gift or even for myself. It's cool to click through to other sites and see more products.
Here are some things that I thought were very interesting:
Cool Hunting featured the "Fluid Earth Bowl" from www.thisisnext.com. Basically you can go to the site, and find your state, city or town, and they will carve the topographic landscape you choose into a beach wood plate or bowl. You choose the terrain via Google Maps and there you have it...Your beautiful custom plate of your favorite place on earth in soft wood. This is a great gift for the traveler or airplane pilot :)
Another feature was earth inspired lighting from Ryan Wolfe who uses technological studies of organic materials that force viewers to reimagine their perception of plants. "Branching System" covers the gallery walls with robotic leaves that independently flutter like mechanical butterflies Viewers presence is reflected in the leaves' motion, creating a fully interactive experience.
The next one is something I wish I could have in my place...The Best of the Brooklyn Flea: Keep It Moving Nit Plants. A small booth headed up by a woman as nice as her creations are clever, Keep It Moving Design sells knit plants. Each hand-knit specimen comes in a pot with its own name. Most are flexible due to wire armature and some even have moss. Find her work at Etsy site.
