Do animals grieve?

If there is more than one animal in a household and one pet passes away it is possible for them to grieve.  The biggest question is if it is a change of routine or they are actually mourning the loss?  Suzanne Hetts of the Animal Behavior Associates thinks it is possible but we will never know.  Their behavior will change.  They might not be as hyper as before because they don't have another animal there to build energy off of.  One thing we all know is that it takes time to get over a death.
