I'm proud to say that I've been married over 30 years to the same lovely lady.

I'd like to share a concept that I've heard from wiser people, but really didn't understand until recently.

If you are a do-it-yourselfer and want to keep harmony in your household, AVOID WALL PAPERING your rooms.

We wall papered a guest bedroom and guest bathroom when we moved in 14 years ago.  Over the winter, the boss lady and I decided to update a few rooms and those two were on the list.  Let me tell you this, wall paper goes up 5X easier than it comes off.

The 12X12 guest bedroom took the better portion of two days to just remove the wall paper. Yes I used the "Paper Tiger" to make perferations to the paper so the remover can penetrate to the glue.  In all honesty, I've tried all different types of removers... from the eco-friendly to the industrial strength.  I have a feeling the glue that was on the wall paper was part of a secret government project to study the sanity of the Do-It Yourselfer.

What does this have to do with marriage?  My lovely wife and I had more than a few terse words in the process of trying to get the darn stuff off.  Days later my wife would find a fleck or two of left over paper.  I'm happy to report we are back on speaking terms.

The bathroom took another 4 hours to remove the paper.

So Do-It Yourselfers, you you have been warned.  ENjoy your Spring home repair projects and heed my advice.
