More Than An Attitude Adjustment

It's been a month since I began receiving regular adjustments at Family Chiropractic.  I never expected to make it this far into my treatment program because I, quite frankly, walked into their offices with a less than agreeable attitude.  After having a ridiculously unproductive experience with a chiropractor in my youth, I haven't put much faith in this particular practice since.

Suffice it to say that Dr. Lytle treated my attitude along with some chronic shoulder pain that I've experienced for several years, now.  I generally like to be right about things, so I wasn't particularly keen on admitting that I'd been wrong about the benefits of chiropractic care.  As hard as I tried to think of something that hadn't lived up to my expectations, I couldn't.  Mostly because in one adjustment, Dr. Lytle ran so far PAST what I'd been expecting that there wasn't anything remotely negative that could have been said of my experience.

My shoulder continues to grow stronger.  The pain has nearly diminished now, and a significant range of motion has been restored.  And, despite the fact that I went in for the sole purpose of repairing my sad little injured shoulder, Family Chiropractic has managed to fix a whole list of things that I never even asked them to.  I mentioned this to Dr. Lytle during one visit, and he explained that often time, various pains can simply be a result of a body that simply isn't functioning properly.  Since they are in the business of restoring function, it's not at all uncommon to find that patients go in to be treated for one thing, and walk out free and clear of a whole host of other problems.

This appears to be the case with me.

For several years, I've dreaded weather changes for two reasons.  One, I have a bum knee.  It's a result of an injury that occurred in 1999 because I managed to briefly forget how to walk.  (I'm special that way.)  I was crossing my living room, and took a rather awkward step that sent my right knee popping out while the lower half of my leg stayed stable.  To this day, I have no idea how I did it, and even though the swelling went down a few weeks later, I'm reminded of that incident every time it rains.  Or snows.  Or drops 5 degrees.  Or contemplates dropping 5 degrees.  I've also suffered from arthritis in my left elbow for some time.  You can imagine what I looked like during especially erratic weather changes.  I hobbled around with my elbow cocked at an odd angle, cursing mother nature.

Since beginning treatment at Family Chiropractic, I've had NO pain in either my knee or elbow.

In college, I jumped on the fast track to insomnia.  Up until a month ago, if you'd asked me when the last time I'd had a really good night's sleep was, I wouldn't have been able to tell you.  I could probably get some idea by looking at the purchases on my bank statements, because generally, after a couple of months of consistently restless and/or sleepless nights, I'm forced to break down and purchase whatever over-the-counter sleep aid looks promising.  That, of course, always leaves me groggy and ill-tempered and barely able to roll out of bed the next morning.

At this point, though, I'd be hard-pressed to think of a night during the last month when I haven't slept well.  AND, I'm not only sleeping well, but I'm waking up much more easily than I ever have.  I'm able to open my eyes, sit up, and begin my day.  My mother, who had the unfortunate task of waking me for the first 18 years of my life (as well as any time I've visited home since then) has declared this to be a miracle.

Headaches have plagued me for the majority of my life.  When I was very young, I would complain that my head was hurting.  My family has noted many times since then how pale I became when I had the headaches.  When I was nineteen years old, I was diagnosed with migraines.  The doctor gave me bottle after bottle of prescription pills, and when migraines would hit, I'd wander about in a drug-induced stupor until they passed.  8 years ago, the migraines abruptly stopped, but I found that this dull, throbbing pain had settled into my eyes.  I went to eye doctor after eye doctor to try to correct the problem, but they could never find the source of the discomfort.  All they knew to do was hand me some reading glasses and tell me to avoid straining my eyes.  In the past few years, the pain has grown so constant and so intense that I was beginning to contemplate visiting a neurologist.  (This was a rather huge decision for me, as it takes an act of God to get me to voluntarily set foot in a doctor's office.)

Since my first week of adjustments at Family Chiropractic, I have had NO pain in my eyes.  I did feel it trying to creep back in after Mardi Gras weekend, and one adjustment from Dr. Lytle sent the pain off to the island of misfit ailments.

This is just the tip of the iceberg, too.  If they can do ALL OF THIS for me in a single month, think of what they would be able to do for you.

Heck, if they can sell me on the benefits of chiropractic care, you know this must be some good stuff.

I'm so confident that Family Chiropractic can help you achieve a better quality of life that I've set up a special consultation deal with them.  If you call (314.739.8841) and tell them that I sent you, they'll give you a free consultation.  That includes a soft tissue and spinal exam.

Complimentary.  Free.  No money has to be exchanged.

No excuse is good enough to pass up free.  Especially if you can walk out of there pain free, and with a body that functions better than you ever thought it could.

I've been so pleased with the results so far that I've asked Dr. Lytle to start working on making my brain function next.

He's made no promises on that one.
