American Idol judge Simon Cowell said it to David Cook, "You win the night."  Simon wasn't lyin'.  I'll give the former bartender from Blue Springs a score of 2 out of 3.  Cook had the top two performances of the night starting with Simon's request, "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" by Roberta Flack.  Yeah I know, it's not exactly a song I'd pick for Cook, but, he did a spectacular job.  His other stellar piece was chosen by an Idol producer - "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith.  Cook brought down the house.  Ironically, his only subpar routine was the one he chose.- "Dare You to Move" by Switchfoot.  Randy called his singing, "...a little pitchy."

I'll give the third best performance of the night to David Archuletta for his rendition of Billy Joel's "And So it Goes."  It was a judges' choice from Paula Abdul (who was surprisingly coherent the entire hour).

So, Syesha Mercado is in trouble.  It'll be the two Davids left standing after the show tonight.
