It was re-styled by trumpeter-singer Louis Prima in 1956 with an uptempo arrangement combining "Just a Gigolo" with another song, "I Ain't Got Nobody." While still a member of Van Halen, David Lee Roth released a solo EP of standards, including his interpretation of Louis Prima's version of this track. Shortly after his EP relaease, in April 1985, Roth either left Van Halen or was fired—depending on who is telling the story. Reportedly, tensions between Roth and guitarist Eddie Van Halen broke over Van Halen's desire to incorporate keyboards, synthesizers and power ballads into the group's sound. They kissed and made up for their tour a year ago, which grossed $93 million, a record for the band.
