Go Green - At Work!

  • According to the Sierra Club, The average U.S. office worker goes through 10,000 sheets of copy paper a year. Save paper by printing on both sides or use the back side of old documents for faxes, scrap paper, or drafts. Avoid color printing and print in draft mode when possible.

  • Think before you print. Do you really need to print that email? Can it simply be stored in your inbox? Make it a policy to post employee manuals and similar materials online, rather than distribute print copies. They're easier to update that way too.

  • Bring your own coffee cup and reusable dishware to work and bring your lunch in a reusable container.

  • Set up a recycling program and encourage your co-workers to participate. Set up the recycling bins in accessible, high-traffic areas and provide clear information about what can and can not be recycled.

  • Turn off your lights when you leave your office.

  • With instant messaging, video chat, teleconferenceing, and Wi-Fi hotspots popping up everywhere, Telecommuting is becoming increasingly popular. Ask your boss or offer your employees a teleconferencing day once a week to avoid the trek to work.
