Long time

It's been a long time to write on here. The website looks a little different from last time. Does anyone read these posts? Where did the other Amy go?

We picked out flowers. All will be fake flowers except, for the girls in the wedding party. REAL FLOWERS ARE EXPENSIVE!!! I still wanted some to be real so I thought the guys, parents, and grandparents wouldn't mind if they had fake flowers. Its just another way to watch the budget!

Hey is anyone out there!!! echooo echooo.... Things are crazy right now! Just bought and house with the fiance and we're trying to get settled. Christmas is right around the corner and I can't find anything. My answer to everything is "it's in a box somewhere.... in the garage!" I can't wait until we get unpacked and I can focus on the wedding again. My dress just came in and I FINALLY get to try it on again. I've really missed it. I know this sounds crazy but I plan on wearing my dress as much as possible after the wedding. If I'm paying big buck for it, Why not? I told my Carl don't be surprised to see me wearing it while vacuuming one day.

Have a good Christmas! This is our 1st Christmas together in our OWN house!!! I hope Santa stops by!

I think I uploaded a few pictures. I don't know if you can access them. I'll deal with that at a later date.

reception halls

I am in the middle of finding the right reception hall. I have called many halls to find out what the price would be and my goodness.. I am trying to pick through 2 halls right now, so we will see which one will be available. My only concern is what if I get this hall that holds more than the other hall and not that many people show up.. Any thoughts or ideas of other halls?

It's my favorite time of year!!!

We are switching reception locations because ours has been in the St. Charles Journal a couple of times and not for positive things. I don't feel comfortable with a place that doesn't pay their taxes and their own employees checks have bounced. Soo.... we are going elsewhere.

We bought a house and things are crazy! We close Decemeber 3 just in time to have our OWN Christmas in our OWN house!! Engagement pictures will be posted soon.

How many bridesmaids are too many

Well I have had 2 bridesmaids drop out of the wedding do to a pregnancy... so this should help out in the planning now with the groomsmen..

Writing out of concern..

I have asked 8 people to be a bridesmaid. These 8 girls I talk to almost every day. Is 8 really too many? On the other hand he only has 6 groomsmen. Do I just have the other two walk by themselves?

Engagement pictures

Engagement pictures are done. I should be able to upload some on here next week. It was so much fun! I'm planning to use them to make a photo guestbook and put them on a poker chip as our wedding favors. I won't beusing all of the engagement pictures in our guestbook because I want to put a few of our childhood too. A woo hoo! September 26th can't get here soon enough. : )

How to get the Groom more involved

It has been the hardest time to get Justin more involved. He says it is my day and I should be planning it. How really do you get the groom more involved without gettting upset with them? I want to get everyone together to let them know who will be in the wedding, but he doesn't want to take the time to do that and said he has already told them they are in it. He has only told his best man. I have 8 bridesmaids and well he could only come up with 6. I've mentioned maybe putting a few extra in there but he does not want that. How do you get him to just agree and want to help or give his opinion on things? I'm struggling in this area.

Inviting Co-workers

1. I work in an office of about 25-30 people. I only talk to about 5 or 6 people on a regular basis. Who should I invite? Does that include my boss? I do talk to her occasionally but, I don't want to leave anyone out. If I invite 5 people that means 5+ a guest=10 people. Is that about right?

2. What are some neat and creative program ideas? I figure I could get really creative with the programs because it might be cheaper. With invitations the more creative the more bulkier (usually) which means more postage. Any creative program ideas out there?

Meeting ANOTHER DJ

We've decided to meet, just meet with another DJ. We're not ruling out the younger guy. We just want to see who else is out there and what our options are. Some DJ's can be really expensive.

We met with the DJ. I really liked him. He's very crediable and has the experience to back himself. The kicker is he's still in high school! I can't be stereotypical just because of his age. He loves what he does and I've called a few brides to see if they would recommend him. All said YES! Does the age of a dj matter?

Photography

Trying to find a photographer is outrageous. Everyone that I have talked to has told me that pictures are almost the most expensive part of the wedding. I've been looking through each persons website at the quality of the pictures and everything looks great. We have decided to also put the cameras at the reception to cut down the cost, plus it would be great to see who actually takes the cameras around and uses them. My friends wedding pics from that night were really funny. It looked like everyone had a good time. Any thoughts on photography?

stop and smell the flowers

I originally wanted all real flowers but then quickly realized that is out of the picture because of the OUTRAGOUS pricing. So, I've decided to use silk flowers for everything except the wedding party. I'm hoping that won't look to weird. Just three bridesmaids , jr. bridesmaid, three groomsmen, bride, and groom will have real flowers. Is that even normal?

finalizing the guest list

I am starting to finalize my guest list and let me tell you it is even harder to figure out if we have everyone from the family and making sure we invite people that we know aren't coming but would be upset not to get an invite. We both have big families so just both the families alone are only around 175 and that's not including the friends we still have to invite. I'm still trying to look for a caterer so that I have them booked because it seems as though everything goes so fast especially for wedding in the summer or even at all. I've created my to dolist online as well that was really helpful. Still looking for dresses. I went shopping a last week found one I like alot but the price is crazy, my mom said you only get married once so you might as well do it all out. Still trying to figure out what kind of theme I will have, its crazy but I've been watching platinum weddings to try and get some kind of idea. For the price everything is really nice but for my budget its not that nice. We'll see some of my friends are very creative.
