Malle's is a great little dive bar in St. Louis that you might not know about even though they will be celebrating their 20-year anniversary this October. Located in a fairly unassuming spot along on quiet strip of South Hampton, they get a decent sized crowd during the week - drawn in by the $4 pitchers of Natty Light that are priced that way all day, every day.
With the bar being around for so long, it has that favorite blue jeans kind of feel when you get inside. The jukebox is full of memory-jogging tunes that prompt you to sing along, and the comfy bar stools are ripe for rocking along. Malle's isn't a bar that lays claim to the "and grill" descriptor, manager Tommy Bannister told me the only food items on the menu are personal sized pizzas.
Every night at Malle's features some type of special. Even without the specials they honor the two sacred dive bar rules offering a relaxed atmosphere and drink prices that almost make you feel guilty. To honor Monday night football, there are $2 beers and free pizzas, Wednesday is free darts and $2 rail drinks and every Friday there is a live band with only a $4 cover. On Friday, September 5th the Rhythm Rockers will be playing.
Malle's is located at 3506 Hampton and is open from 7 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. everyday but Tuesday.
***Writer's note: I discovered this place when I was trying to get to Molly's in Soulard...this is Malle's - like the Irish last name***
I'm not a bar goer anymore..but we city folk don't take kindly to you telling the county people about our bars
:-)
Of course, that is when I thought drinking Busch Light was a good idea.
