Books to Read by the Pool

Here are a few of my old standby's for books to read by the pool! Some of my favorites....please add yours below.

She's Come Undone--(after you read this, you will be singing "She's Come Undone")

Meet Dolores Price. She's 13, wise-mouthed but wounded, having bid her childhood goodbye. Stranded in front of her bedroom TV, she spends the next few years nourishing herself with the Mallomars, potato chips, and Pepsi her anxious mother supplies. When she finally orbits into young womanhood at 257 pounds, Dolores is no stronger and life is no kinder. But this time she's determined to rise to the occasion and give herself one more chance before she really goes under.

Wally Lamb is one of my favorite authors. You will laugh and cry while reading this book. But here's another one by Wally that is a must-read.

I Know This Much Is True: Grab the Kleenex

A novel on mental illness, narrated by a man whose twin brother, a schizophrenic, amputates his hand as atonement for his sins. The novel describes the family abuse that led to the illness and the narrator's efforts to obtain the brother's release from an asylum.

Can You Keep a Secret?: One of the funniest books ever! Make sure you aren't around strangers while reading. You will LOL.  Her "Shopaholic" series is also hysterical.

Meet Emma Corrigan, a young woman with a huge heart, an irrepressible spirit, and a few little secrets:

Secrets from her boyfriend:
I weigh one hundred and twenty-eight pounds. Not one eighteen, like Connor thinks.
I’ve always thought Connor looks a bit like Ken. As in Barbie and Ken.

From her colleagues:
When Artemis really annoys me, I feed her plant orange juice. (Which is pretty much every day.) It was me who jammed the copier that time. In fact, all the times.

Secrets she wouldn’t share with anyone in the world:
My G-string is hurting me.
I have no idea what NATO stands for. Or even what it is.

Until she spills them all to a handsome stranger on a plane. At least, she thought he was a stranger.

But come Monday morning, Emma’s office is abuzz about the arrival of Jack Harper, the company’s elusive CEO. Suddenly Emma is face-to-face with the stranger from
the plane, a man who knows every single humiliating detail about her.
