I went to lunch with my sister today and the experience is still bothering me. We went to a place that she had been before but I had not. Her first experience was good although she was told to beware of bad service. We went to Granite City Food & Brewery on Olive.
We sit down and a guy comes to take our drink orders. We talk a bit, figure out what we want and a girl comes to take our orders. She orders the chicken salad sandwich with soup and I order a pizza with soup.
A while later--another guy (different from the first guy) comes to our table and brings my sister's chicken salad. He says to me "I was told to tell you that the pizza will take a little longer because it's made in a different part of our kitchen." I asked if I should order something else. He said "oh, no then they would have to start all over." He said they brought the chicken salad because they didn't want it to "get old."
I know I had a strange look on my face. We asked if we could have the soup they never brought.
Ok, what am I missing? Why wouldn't you wait to make the chicken salad sandwich? You could wait until the pizza is almost done and then start making it. And what kind of answer is "the pizza is done in another part of the kitchen."
You're a restaurant--that's "what you do." You take orders and bring everyone's lunch out at the same time. Isn't that the whole concept of going out to eat? Plus, this is my lunch hour. I sat there being annoyed the whole meal.
I finally got my pizza--brought by the 2nd person to approach our table. She asked if I wanted parmesan and red pepper. I said sure. She brought the red pepper but said she had to hunt down the parmesan cheese. Do you only have one container? I just said forget it.
Ugh. I was wishing someone who worked there would have asked me how it was before I left. They didn't. The food wasn't bad. And had the service been good, I may have said it was great!
So you were in Creve Couer, at a restaurant called Granite City, which is headquartered in Minnnesota! Maybe folks up there like their food to come out at all different times, eh? Know what I'm talking aboot?
