Happy Fat Tuesday folks. For those of you who don't know anything about this particular pre-hump-day holiday, it literally means Mardi Gras. I know, I know - you thought you celebrated Mardi Gras last weekend in Soulard, but Mardi Gras literally translates to "Fat Tuesday," which means that the celebration isn't quite over yet. Sure, it might be a little rough getting up for work or school tomorrow morning, but don't let that stop you. St. Louis has a lot in store for you this particular Fat Tuesday.

  • Lumiere Place Fat Tuesday Parade - The "Light Up the Night" parade this evening starts at Broadway and Washington, then heads south to Kiener Plaza. Who better to watch the parade with than the people you were partying with before that? The event is free, but who charges money to stand in the freezing cold and watch a parade anyway? Be at Lumiere Place before 7:30 p.m. if you want to catch some of the pre-party.
  • Free Pancakes at IHOP - So, IHOP is excited that Fat Tuesday also happens to be national pancake day, and if you decide to celebrate Fat Tuesday by eating a ton of food, that still seems pretty fitting. Until 10 p.m. this evening, this breakfast eatery will be handing out a stack of three free pancakes to anyone willing to make a donation to support local children's hospitals.
  • The Bando Trio Jams at Pop's Blue Moon - To celebrate your Fat Tuesday and still stay warm, Bando Trio will be playing New Orleans and Louisiana jazz music all night at Pop's Blue Moon. And if that isn't incentive enough, there's free gumbo!
