I have a penchant for pizza, a love of books, and a strong cup of coffee always makes me smile. When I'm not writing for ToastedRav I like long walks on concrete sidewalks, hanging-lamp lit dinners, and a good bottle of Shiraz.

Is Burping Really That Gross? 'Cause I Am Hearing It Is

Evidently I have a problem, and it's a problem that I am still convinced isn't really a problem. See I belch like a sailor, especially when I am drinking a soda or beer. I have never thought twice about said burps until recently when people started getting all squirrelly and grossed out over it. Evidently there are a number of people in the world who find this habit disgusting and offensive.

Say I am slamming a Diet Coke, there is going to be a rip-roaring belch within seconds. I never thought I needed to suppress or muffle the burp, and I don't notice when I am doing it even when it is a burp of the chest rumbling variety. I don't think of it as gas so much as loud air bubbles that happen to accompany a soda. There are people among us who would (and do) say gas is gas and burping is gross. Now the stinky burps, I totally agree that those are disgusting but the occasional, or even daily, stink free belch seems completely normal.

Of course I would never go burping during a TV interview but number one no one wants to interview me anyway and number two I wouldn't be drinking a soda while the interview was in progress. While I am safe in the way of burping on television, I hear that I need to suppress burps while I am in... say the office. Isn't that just as bad for you as holding in a fart though? Excuse me, I have some belching to do... in private.
