SCROLL DOWN for JAY's BIO -

I was born in St. Louis and grew up here, Minneapolis and San Jose, California...a multi-city childhood that prepared me well for the rock band-style, gypsy touring life that is a career in radio.

It's been a blast seeing America by working and living in all quadrants of the USA - I've been to 46 of our states and seen a lot of our amazing country, living and working in places like San Jose/San Francisco, Minneapolis, Seattle, Milwaukee, Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Springfield, IL, Dallas and Charleston, SC. I previously worked in St. Louis radio from 1995-97 when KSD was classic rock - (I think they play Polkas of the Antarctic now).

I came back to StL for good in 2006 to take care of family matters and have been with THE ARCH since June of 2007. It is the most perfect music station I have ever worked for, allowing me to indulge my rawk side as much as my love for pop music. It's my passion to bring all kinds of music to you and to dig around for the fun facts and stories behind the tunes and the people who make them.

I'm really lucky to be on TEAM ARCH, and I really appreciate that YOU listen. Thanks!

My Night with the Overland Police...

I got an email last week from a friend of mine who is an officer in the Overland Police Department.  He mentioned that there was going to be a sobriety checkpoint Friday night (12/5) and I thought it would be cool to check it out and see if I could help them get the message out that drinking and driving is a bad idea around the Holidays…or anytime.  As I arrived at about midnight, I found a rather festive atmosphere and that there was actually a party going on!  It was a sober party of course, and there were many members of M.A.D.D. there to offer support to the officers that were conducting the operation, serving hot coffee and snacks.

I’ve made a short video as a public service and I hope you watch it on the video tab above.  It’s a look inside a sobriety checkpoint and it serves as a reminder that a poor decision to drive under the influence of alcohol can cause some horrific consequences that could hurt or kill another person.  At the very least, the consequences of a DUI charge are a major inconvenience and embarrassment to the person who gets caught driving an automobile with an over-the-limit amount of alcohol in the bloodstream.

I’d like to thank Overland Mayor Mike Schneider for appearing with me, along with M.A.D.D.’s Mike Borland, and Overland Officer Cheryl Schulte.

It’s probably worth pointing out that in addition to getting drunk drivers off the road, sobriety checkpoints also find a lot of people who have improper registration, are not insured, are driving under suspension or do not have a license.  A lot of tickets and tow-aways occur for these infractions, so make sure your paper work is in order.  And please, wear your seat belts.

Thanks for checking this out and have a safe Holiday season!

By the way – get the Lifesavers & Heartbreakers Calendar Mike Borland mentioned for just $10 by calling 314-426-1595 and find out more about MADD Gateway HERE.
