What if You Could Re-Name St. Louis?

St. Louis, the "Gateway to the West," hosts (if I do say so myself) the greatest people in all of the Midwest.

But thinking outside of our obvious shared love for the Lou, I hope that all of you knowledgeable St. Louisans know why our favorite city is actually called St. Louis. In 1763, Pierre Laclede Liguest, the founder of our fair place of residence, named it after King Louis lX of France. So while that's great for the French dude who cleared the land for this river town, what does King Louie have to do with what kind of a city St. Louis is today? Not too much if you ask me.

So, hypothetically speaking, what would you re-name St. Louis if you were given the opportunity to do so? Half-a-McDonalds-logo Town? Redbirdville?

I mean, surely now that we know that we live in a city with such amazing sports, a obviously famous landmark, a world class free zoo, the biggest brewery in the world, an incredible cultural history and thousands of other perks that come with living in St. Louis, we could capture a bit more of all that in our name, right?

What would you re-name St. Louis, or would you want to re-name it at all?

What do you think?
