I have a penchant for pizza, a love of books, and a strong cup of coffee always makes me smile. When I'm not writing for ToastedRav I like long walks on concrete sidewalks, hanging-lamp lit dinners, and a good bottle of Shiraz.

Lots of people in St. Louis are heading to Jammin' at the Zoo tomorrow or the baseball game tonight, which spells the worst kind of workday ever - a hangover workday. Hangovers can be especially brutal when they are the result of red wine (sorry Zoo folks), but never underestimate the effect of a few too many baseball beers. It seems like everyone has a trick for getting over the headaches, nausea, and general "I never want to drink again" feeling. Here are a few tried and true cures for what ails you:

  1. Advil Cold and Sinus Medication: It is a commonly know fact that acetaminophen (the main ingredient in Tylenol) accelerates liver deterioration when you take it while drinking. The misery of a hangover is so much like the symptoms of having a cold so it makes sense that cold meds ease the aches and pains, but using Advil decreases the chance that you will be carrying your liver on a skateboard in your old age.
  2. Vanilla Ice Cream: The sugar wakes you up, while the salt helps replace electrolytes, and the dairy coats your stomach, what more can you ask for in a hangover cure? Vanilla is the suggested flavor because it has less artificial flavoring so it is less sugary, thus coating your stomach more efficiently.
  3. Gatorade: The drink was specially formulated to replace electrolytes and prevent dehydration. Drinking a whole bottle of Gatorade prevents you from waking up with the symptoms associated with a hangover because depleted electrolytes and dehydration are the two main causes of a hangover.

If you talk to enough people you could probably write a book filled with the cures for the hangover ails. Got a cure that isn't in this list? We'd love to hear it 'cause there is this thing Saturday night...
