11:02 – Bernie opens the expanded Bernie Show with his Bullet Points. The Rams allowed too many big plays, but they held the Saints to much fewer points than they usually score. Bernie isn’t saying we need to have a party, but the team showed progress and had a chance to win the game against a better team. 11:22 – Rams GM Billy Devaney joins the show and says yesterday’s game was encouraging for the team because it was a productive day. Billy says the Rams need game changers on both sides of the ball, and they are going to continue to add building blocks to the team.
11:42 – Bernie says Marc Bulger played better than usual yesterday, but the number of excuses for him not executing on the final drive are crazy. Quarterbacks make their living by being able to drive down the field and score in the 2 minute drill. Bernie thinks the Rams have an improved offensive line, have some promising wide receivers, and some good young cornerbacks, but they still need a lot of things. There isn’t a college quarterback that sticks out above the rest, which complicates the Rams’ draft plans this year. 12:02 – Bernie plays some cuts from last night’s Colts vs Patriots game, and talks about how some of his former players including Rodney Harrison and Ted Bruschi and think he should have punted it. However, Bernie thinks he may have done the right thing. 12:22 – Cardinals owner Bill DeWitt, Jr, joins the show. The Cardinals still hope to sign Matt Holliday, but Scott Boras has a history of getting his players to the open market. The Cards probably don’t have much of a chance if a big market club goes all-in for him. Bill says even if the team doesn’t resign Holliday they aren’t far away from contending for a championship.
12:42 – Rams insider Jim Thomas joins Bernie to discuss yesterday’s Rams game. Jim says on the final drive Marc Bulger shouldn’t have had so many checkdowns. Thomas thinks the Rams need to go out and get a #1 wide receiver. Jim wouldn’t have gone for it like Coach Bill Belichick last night, but Jim says Belichick has also won three Super Bowls so he knows what he is doing. 1:02 – Kurt Warner joins the show and says the Cardinals are playing their best football right now. He says it is fun to come back to St. Louis and play in the dome, and it is always a very busy weekend. Warner can’t believe this is his 12th season in the NFL, and he is still committed to St. Louis because of how St. Louis took him in and adopted his family.
1:22 – Former Ram La’Roi Glover thinks Chris Long is improving and liked his sack yesterday. Glover thinks the Rams first need to make a decision at quarterback for the draft this year, but they also need depth at wide receiver and corner. 1:42 – Bernie wraps the show discussing Mizzou’s performance against Kansas State this past weekend, how great Manny Pacquiao was this weekend against Miquel Cotto, and he chats with Bob Ramsey to see what is coming up on the Fast Lane.
