ToastedRav Goes To Italy: Video Edition

Italy, it’s the birthplace of the Fiat, Mussolini, and the ravioli…not necessarily in that order.  It’s been said a lifetime isn’t enough to see Rome alone, but hoping to disprove that theory, we set out from St. Louis with one week to discover all that The Boot has to offer.  The attached video is the result of this exhausting trip.

P.S.  Below are ten lessons learned for anyone considering a similar trip.

10. Budget a lot for the trip and plan to spend more than you’re planning to spend.  (At the time we left St. Louis, the dollar was weaker than it’s ever been vs. the Euro…ouch!)

9. Stamp your train ticket!  (We learned this lesson the hard way…after forgetting to time stamp our ticket, a guard busted us and relieved us of $80.)

8. If you’re traveling by foot, pack as little as possible.  A 16-ounce bottle of water eventually feels like it weighs as much as an above-ground pool.

7. Save money and stand in restaurants…food costs more at a restaurant if you’re eating it while sitting.

6. Put your money in places nobody (including you) would think to look…pickpocketers are everywhere.

5. Service is included in the bill at most restaurants…no tipping necessary unless the server blows you away.

4. When ordering water at a restaurant, it’ll be bubbly unless you say “no gas.”

3. Leave room in your suitcase for a cliché souvenir…we chose a miniature Leaning Tower of Pisa.

2. Wear your running shoes, trains run on time, but you probably won’t.

1. You’ll have a great time, but going home will have never felt so good!
