It used to be that folks hid their cash under the mattress....with the recent financial crisis, more and more people are storing more cash at home, but not under the mattress. Some of the more interesting/crazy places these days include hiding your stash in a toilet paper roll in the hall closet, in a cookie jar in the kitchen, in a fake drain in the basement or garage, in the dirty laundry hamper (what thief would indeed look there as this gives a new meaning to laundering money), in an envelope taped to the back of furniture, in a pair of old sneakers, in a fake plant, inside a picture frame, and under the litter box! Actually, there are lots of places to keep your money safe in the home. The problem is, you just have to remember where you put it when you need it.
