Green is the thing lately, and our money, style and earth consciousness is prompting more of us to buy hand-made and artisan produced goods than ever before. Naturally, green crafts, stuff made from recycled and repurposed items with little to no waste, is becoming quite the buzz with the crafty and creative types in St. Louis and beyond.

St. Louis Craft Mafia, our city's crafty collective, presented a challenge to local artists and designers to create a bevy of green crafts for their Green with Indie Craft Fair. The creative results of their green challenge can be seen this weekend when local crafters from all over the city will be on hand selling art, clothing and stuff for your abode at the craft show.

What: Green with Indie Craft Show

Where: Webster University's Grant Gym

When: Saturday, March 21 from 10am - 6pm
Sunday, March 22 from 12pm - 5pm

While you browse through eco-friendly crafts you can learn about green living, taste organic foods and drinks provided by Local Harvest Cafe and even pick up green art supplies at the "freecycle" booth. Freecycling works kind of like recycling but instead of transforming soda cans into something else at a plant, freecycling is the exchanging of items for free to reduce waste. The St. Louis Craft Mafia is taking the freecycling idea and putting a creative twist on with this weekend's launch of The Upcycle Exchange at the fair. If you bring items from the crafters wish list to the show you will get a 10% off coupon good that is good at all the shows booths.

On Saturday you can also check out the Re-Style Fashion Show at noon. Twelve local, green fashion designers (including Lauren B from ShowMe Handmade) will be strutting their eco-fabulous designs down the runway during the show. There will be a wide variety of fashionably conscious styles being show, ranging from "All American Girl" styles designed by a 12-year-old St. Louisan lady to reclaimed and restructured pieces from Dana of Damnation Reclamation.

You can find more information about the show and the crafters by checking out Green with Indie's website.
