Did you know today is Middle Name Pride Day? Well, it is!!

Middle names are seldom used and we can forget and neglect them, although they are an important part of our name. Parents choose middle names carefully, sometimes honoring a friend or relative, or to carry a family tradition. Middle Name Pride Day is the day to commemorate that very thing.

Some people don't like their middle name, but it's an important part of who you are and sets you apart from every other Sally Smith that exists. Although some do not have a middle name, many do and it's time to let it shine, even if it's just today.

My middle name is Carrè and honors my great, great aunt Margaret Harris Carrè of New Orleans. It's not a standard name, but it is rich in family heritage and I am honored to carry the name down the line, even if no one knows how to spell it or say it.

Do you know why you were given your middle name? If not, today's the day to find out. If it was in honor of someone, find out a little more about that person. Do you like it? What does it mean? What does it say about you? Don't be shy, let your middle name shine a little today.

What do you think?
