Similar to vampires and black cats, a trip to the office of the Department of Motor Vehicles comes with its own set of superstitious rules. For example you should never enter a DMV office at the end of the month, or you should always stay as far away as possible from the DMV between hours of 11am and 1pm. Sadly, most Missourians have to face the DMV at least once every two years. If businesses were run the same way that the DMV it is likely that many of us would never leave our home and those of us who did would stand a high chance of starving death while waiting in lines. There may be some changes on the way at the DMV though, starting with the St. Charles DMV fee office.

Missouri's newly inaugurated Governor Jay Nixon started bidding out the job of running fee offices for the DMV, starting with the St. Charles license office. Traditionally the jobs running licensing offices were given to the Governor's allies and supporters; the whole two hour line thing is all becoming a little clearer to me now. Taking the politics out of the transaction process means there will probably be different employees and locations, and hopefully (keeping my fingers and toes crossed on this one) the offices will starting running like a well oiled business.
