Dogs are man's best friend, with cats, hamsters, golfish and octopus coming in close behind. But even though they can't go trick-or-treating, your pets can still get in on the action this Halloween.

The 2008 Howl & Yowl Fall Festival is being held this Saturday and Sunday (October 11 and 12) at Country Acres Rescue in Manchester from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It's a family affair, and all pets are welcome. Activities include a pet costume contest, live music, prizes, a marshmallow roast, a haunted house, carnival games, a scarecrow corner, food, face painting, clowns, caricaturists, balloon art, vendors and most importantly, an adoption booth.

St. Louis' most well-known pet/mascot, FredBird, will be in attendance, and Star Wars Legion will also make an appearance.
