SCROLL DOWN for JAY's BIO -

I was born in St. Louis and grew up here, Minneapolis and San Jose, California...a multi-city childhood that prepared me well for the rock band-style, gypsy touring life that is a career in radio.

It's been a blast seeing America by working and living in all quadrants of the USA - I've been to 46 of our states and seen a lot of our amazing country, living and working in places like San Jose/San Francisco, Minneapolis, Seattle, Milwaukee, Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Springfield, IL, Dallas and Charleston, SC. I previously worked in St. Louis radio from 1995-97 when KSD was classic rock - (I think they play Polkas of the Antarctic now).

I came back to StL for good in 2006 to take care of family matters and have been with THE ARCH since June of 2007. It is the most perfect music station I have ever worked for, allowing me to indulge my rawk side as much as my love for pop music. It's my passion to bring all kinds of music to you and to dig around for the fun facts and stories behind the tunes and the people who make them.

I'm really lucky to be on TEAM ARCH, and I really appreciate that YOU listen. Thanks!

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band will headline the halftime show at the Super Bowl on February 1st, 2009 in Tampa, Florida!

Here's the official announcement from NFL.com

This is the announcement on The Boss' site

Here's a very revealing story about what a great guy Bruce is, and to what length he will go to reach out to his fans.  In 1985, I was working at a radio station in Seattle/Tacoma and Bruce was scheduled to play two nights at the Tacoma Dome*.  As you can imagine, anything regarding Springsteen in 1985 produced hysteria - he was THE music artist of the time having just released "Born In The USA" a year earlier and putting out one of the first-ever boxed sets "Live 1975-1985".

Bruce was ill the first night and was forced to postpone that show.  Around lunchtime on that day, one of our listeners came to the station with a bunch of hand-drawn Get Well cards from the kids at Roy Elementary, the school where she taught.  She asked if we could get them to Bruce.

We delivered the cards to his hotel, and the next morning, one of his representatives brought us a cassette tape from Bruce himself!  On the recording, he and Roy Bittan thank the kids.

Click on the audio tab above and listen to the way he thanked those kids!  I've saved this recording all these years, and hope you enjoy it!

* Trivia:  The Tacoma Dome is one of the largest wood domed structures in the world, and much of the lumber for its roof was harvested from trees blown down by the eruption of Mt. St. Helens in Washington State
