Last Friday, Melody and I had the opportunity to model a few lines of organic clothing for Boutique Chartreuse at Schlafly's Art Outside event. When I signed up for it, I did not have a clue what I was getting into.

Itinerary:

Rules: No Make Up, Clean Dry Hair/Undone, no jewelry, bring black shoes, and must wear Spanx or Assets.

4:00PM - Find the giant room full of women
4:30PM - Clothes check - notification of changes
5:00PM - Mangle hair and spray with "bizarre new product"
5:15PM - Create a birds next using as many bobbies as possible
5:30PM - Role call and line orders - "Single File, now Children"
6:00PM - Walking fake runways in circles again and again and again
6:30PM - Dress quickly so that the employees don't peek
6:35PM - Face manhandling with sheets of foundation
6:50PM - Walk the runway again...thinking "pop-sic-le, pop-sic-le"
7:00PM - Runway Show

It was a tedious and tiresome day...some people take this seriously, but I had a blast just weirding out all the other girls.

Tips:

  1. When your hair is slicked back with product...try your best not to do eyebrow tricks. It can mess up your hair.
  2. Don't order a regular Coca-Cola in a room full of wanna be models. Apparently it's some sort of sin.
  3. Eat from the snack tray provided...their is no need for eating toilet paper ladies. Unless you think you are recycling. After all the show is all organic.
  4. Do techno dances to the runway music while waiting in line to walk. That will mess with everyone trying to remember to say pop-sic-le with every step.
  5. Laugh at yourself and be as retarded as you can. It lightens up a nervous room of women. Check out the Video Tab for an example.
  6. 4 Hours of Preparation = 1:10 Minutes on the Runway

HERE IS A REAL HAIR TIP FOR SAVING YOUR LOCKS AFTER PRODUCT LOCK DOWN:

  1. Whatever you do, don't brush at the bird nest that has been built into your skull. Simply remove all pins and work it into a messy up-do...it can become a conversation piece at the party your going to that night. "Yeah, like, OMG, I was totally a runway diva today...."
  2. Wash out the product, twice. Don't untangle while washing, just massage the shampoo into your scalp.
  3. Untangle with conditioner and running water. It water will naturally help get the kinks out and hurts less.
  4. Comb hair before towel drying.
  5. Now you have revived your hair and saved it from damage!
