This should serve to all women as a reminder that early detection can definitely save your life! Samantha Who? Emmy nominee Christina Applegate (who is only 36) has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer.

It was confirmed by her rep in the following statement:

"Christina Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. Benefiting from early detection through a doctor ordered MRI, the cancer is not life threatening." The rep added: "Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery. No further statement will be issued at this time."

Apparently Christina's own mother is a Breast Cancer survivor, so she obviously knew to take the right measures to be checked. she was very young when her mother was diagnosed (I believe around 7), so it must have made quite an impact on her.

Whether or not your mother, or any of your family members have had breast cancer, it's extremely important you get yourself checked, especially considering Breast cancer is currently the most common cancer in women and the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the 15-54 age group.

Christina is a smart girl, caught it early and should be okay according to her rep. Let's all take a page from her book and look after ourselves!

Good luck Christina!
