It's not often you get the chance to meet a living legend. True living legends don't come skipping through town every day.
That's why our encounter with Billie Jean King at the St. Louis Aces match a few days ago was so special.
The fact that the Aces exist is one of many things King can take credit for. She helped found the World Team Tennis league back in the seventies.
That was the same decade where she was instrumental in Title IX laws being passed to give women's sports equality. She helped get female tennis players the same kind of prize money their male counterparts were getting. And she took on Bobby Riggs in the famed Battle of the Sexes tennis match in 1973. It was a nationally televised event from the Houston Astrodome where King stuck it to a self proclaimed male chauvinist pig on the tennis court.
Click on the the Featured Video tab to hear from Billie Jean. She also has a new book out with what is, for my money, one of the great titles ever. "Pressure is a Privilege."
- It rocks!
- Its just stupid.
- Its SPAM.
- Its offensive.
- Nevermind.
