The story

Remember the movie There’s Something About Mary?  As the credits rolled, the cast was featured vamping to the song “Build Me Up Buttercup.”  Since then, it’s been the lazy way to end a “wacky summer comedy.”  It’s been used countless times Check out the full story.
  • you are so, so, so, so wrong!!!! I can't believe what a different reaction I had when I saw a sneak peak last week. I LOVED the movie. I could've done without Pierce Brosnan singing, but I didn't care! Mamma Mia the musical is famous for not having much of a story, yet people continue to flock to see it on broadway. I actually liked the movie better than the musical. No, Meryl Streep doesn't have a broadway quality voice, but what she lacks in vocals she makes up for in how she puts the song across. I believed EVERY WORD she was singing. If only more stage musical actors would do that. And...I really don't think you got it! The entire movie was making fun of itself! I was entertained from the moment I sat down to the end credits over the song "Thank you for the music". Sorry Qbert, but you are Qwrong. Don't listen to him, go see it and judge for yourself

  • I think this is a fabulous review LOL but the good news here is... we all have different tastes (good news for the movie revenues that is)
  • Interesting how two viewpoints (QBert and JudiD) can be so polar opposite. I've not seen the movie, but the Broadway version was one of the better plays I've seen. I must say I'm not a big fan of Broadway musicals turned movies. Chicago (with the exception of Queen Latifah) was a disappointment. Judi's review is encouraging, but I think I'll wait for it to pop up on insomnia-filled night on HBO.
  • I agree with Qbert. This is one of those rare (thankfully) movies where you can play the soundtrack backwards and it sounds BETTER.
  • I take umbrage with your comments concering Breakin' 2:Electric Boogaloo. It was most ceratinaly no "1." That film launched the career of Curtis Blow!
  • Bond never had to endure the verbal shellacking that Brosnan delivers to the audience. Most people were laughing during the first few lines of "S.O.S.," but I was too stunned to react. I'm just now realizing the trauma I experienced and will seek therapy immediately.
