In the midst of all the "Sky is Falling" rhetoric surrounding the purchase of Anheuser-Busch, one glimmer of good news has emerged.
Historic Grant's Farm appears to be safe from the Belgian chopping block.
This story was a brief mention or an afterthought in most of yesterday's coverage, but in a conference call with the media, InBev's chairman specifically referenced Grant's Farm and the clydesdales when discussing his stated goal to preserve the heritage of Anheuser Busch.
This was a big worry for folks trying to figure out where InBev is going to cut a billion dollars from the budget. But it looks like Grant's is one A-B tradition we'll still be able to share with our kids. (I haven't been yet and can't wait!)
The theme parks are goners, but none of that stuff is here anyway, so is it that big a deal? A lot of people were concerned the old farm would meet the same fate.
So we know the animals will still be out on Gravois. But what about the "complimentary Anheuser-Busch hospitality" the Grant's Farm website mentions? No word yet on the fate of free beer at Grant's, or on the brewery tour.
They need to answer this one quickly. It's important stuff!
