SCROLL DOWN for JAY's BIO -

I was born in St. Louis and grew up here, Minneapolis and San Jose, California...a multi-city childhood that prepared me well for the rock band-style, gypsy touring life that is a career in radio.

It's been a blast seeing America by working and living in all quadrants of the USA - I've been to 46 of our states and seen a lot of our amazing country, living and working in places like San Jose/San Francisco, Minneapolis, Seattle, Milwaukee, Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Springfield, IL, Dallas and Charleston, SC. I previously worked in St. Louis radio from 1995-97 when KSD was classic rock - (I think they play Polkas of the Antarctic now).

I came back to StL for good in 2006 to take care of family matters and have been with THE ARCH since June of 2007. It is the most perfect music station I have ever worked for, allowing me to indulge my rawk side as much as my love for pop music. It's my passion to bring all kinds of music to you and to dig around for the fun facts and stories behind the tunes and the people who make them.

I'm really lucky to be on TEAM ARCH, and I really appreciate that YOU listen. Thanks!

Recently, a group of our ARCH ADVISORS had one of their meetings here at The Arch and they told us that they thought it would be cool if we played some of the songs that were also really cool MTV videos back in the channel’s early years.  So today for the ARCHIVE, I played one of the coolest jazz instrumentals ever made into a video.  It was one of the first mainstream singles to feature “scratching”, its video was produced by former 10CC members Godley & Crème and  was so compelling you had to stop everything to study it, and it won in FIVE categories at the first MTV Video Music Awards including Video Of The Year.  Read on to learn more about today’s archive song and see the original video and a killer 9 minute live version! - From 1983’s Future Shock album, today's Archive was from one of the most influential jazz musicians of all time – HERBIE HANCOCK with ROCK IT!

Original Video HERE - - - LIVE version HERE

Former 10CC members Kevin Godley & Lol Crème created the video for Rock It - They created memorable videos for The Police ("Every Breath You Take", "Synchronicity II", "Wrapped Around Your Finger"), Duran Duran ("Girls on Film", "A View to a Kill"),  Frankie Goes to Hollywood ("Two Tribes", "The Power of Love"), Sting ("If You Love Somebody Set Them Free"), among many others, up to Godley's video for the 1996 single from The Beatles, "Real Love", featured in the Beatles Anthology.
