9 in 10 High Schoolers Short on Fruits and Vegetables

A recent study showed that less than 10% of U.S. high school students are eating the recommended daily amount of fruits and vegetables.  Only 13% of students get at least three servings of vegetables and only 32% are getting two servings of fruit a day.  Less than 1 in 10 get enough of both combined.  Arkansas and North Carolina were among the lowest average and Vermont was one of the highest states average.  The Federal Nutrition goals for 2010 are hoping at least 75% of Americans eat two servings of fruit and at least 50% to eat three vegetable servings a day.
