A Run on Gas in St. Louis?

Ah the world of email! There's one going around right now stating that prices are going to jump here in St. Louis by about twenty cents this afternoon. I have NO IDEA IF THERE'S ANY TRUTH TO THIS.

But thanks to the web, the news is flying all over town and apparently people are flocking to gas stations as we speak. (Again, this is according to an email from a friend. I can't verify.)

Anyway, reason to believe this: Oil closed at a record high yesterday.

Reason not to believe it: Gas prices dropped nationally for the sixth day in a row yesterday (by about a penny). 20 cents seems like a dramatic surge in one afternoon without some sort of major economic news. (CNN's front page has Hillary, Obama, and a guy with 21 wives, but no oil surge.)

Best way to find out: I guess go check out a gas station.  (I can't go until later or I'd check myself!)
