Day 2 of the NCAA Tournament!!!
2:02p-- Take three. Doesn't bother Randy that he lost five games in his bracket because he really likes seeing upsets. This will be the most upset tournament according to Randy. Rammer's bracket was also busted, in the first session of the first day. Also enjoys seeing the smaller schools win some games. D'Marco is blessed to be seeing this. D'Marco's take: I hate Ohio. The state messed up his bracket. That is take three.
2:15p-- D'Marco says Washington's game was where it was at last night. Randy asks who would you pick as an upset today? Would not have picked the Cornell upset. Randy thinks Sienna will upset Purdue. D'Marco doesn't have any upsets in his bracket, but Wofford has a chance. Randy would like to see Vermont upset Syracuse, which would be a 16 seed beating a 1 seed. Rammer thinks Syracuse will be fine this weekend, but of the number ones they may be the most vulnerable.
2:31p-- The guys discussing the guys the Rams brought in for possible signing. Don't be worried about Ndamokong Suh visiting the Lions, he isn’t being recruited, he has to be selected. Randy likes bringing in Willie Parker if you can get him cheap. Save your best stuff for Sunday. Don't go all out in practice, we are talking about practice. D'Marco says Parker thinks he should be a star, he won't beat Steven Jackson out, but he could be the next Chester Taylor. Debating which Greatest Show on Turf Ram's will be in the Hall of Fame since they may all retire this year.
2:48p-- D'Marco's dumbbell of the week. Why do people slow down in the fast lane and know what you want when you go up to a restaurant. Jay Wright, coach of Villanova benching two best players. Ron Washington, Texas Rangers manager, doing coke. D'Marco for thinking Georgetown will be a final four team. The winner is Jesse James for having affair on Sandra Bullock.
3:02p-- TIOLI: Derrick Coleman, former NBA star filed for bankruptcy. Randy's TIOLI, among your largest creditors are your mayor and your pizza joint. Rammer's TIOLI, Jesse James second wife was Jeanne; no one can be Ward Cleaver after that. Randy and D'Marco both take it. D'Marco's TIOLI, after what Urban Meyer has been through, that heart situation was just a three week vacation. Randy and Rammer both leave it. He is a workaholic.
3:15p-- St Louis Rams linebacker James Laurinitas joins the Fast Lane. Who should the Rams take number one? James says he loves the draft and it will come done to one of four players. Any of the guys can help us. He says that the D-lineman improved at the end of year, so it will be interesting to see how they continue to play. No matter who we draft it doesn't necessarily make everyone better. The ideal lineman for James would be someone who takes up all five o-linemen. Click below to hear the entire interview.
3:34p-- What have been the greatest buzzer beaters of all time in the NCAA Tournament? Randy's number one is Christian Laetner's buzzer beater. Rammer says it made his career.
3:45p-- Derrick Goold of 101ESPN and the St Louis Post Dispatch joins the show. The day is good in Florida. Wrist of Brendan Ryan is still sore but that is to be expected. Could start Monday. Chris Carpenter is throwing a lot of strikes. Matt Holiday hit soft toss two days in a row, he won’t be traveling with team.
4:02p-- Hot Topic. Day 2 of the tournament. Mizzou gets a big win, and move on. Many upsets the last two days, but not the one most people thought, Purdue still alive. Would like to see Duke lose, but they will most likely be there.
4:14p-- Greatest Team in St Louis Sports History. Today’s Matchup the 1964 Cardinals versus the 2001 Rams. Rammer says there are so many story lines for the Cardinals. Stan Musial retires after 63 season. Bob Gibson was dominant. They came on strong at the end of the year. 2001 Rams were best team throughout the season, unlike the Cardinals. Patriots beat Rams because they cheated. D'marco picks the Rams. 1964 Cardinals advance.
4:30p-- Bruce Affleck, former Blue and Vice President of Sales with the Blues joins the show. Paul Kariya is still a good player. He is not an elite player anymore, but is still effective. Team chemistry is good, so it is hard to figure out why they are not as successful as they thought. They don't have that one player that holds everyone else accountable. Bruce says David Backes could be that guy. Click below for the entire interview.
4:43p-- Jim Thomas from 101ESPN and the St Louis Post Dispatch joins the guys. Met with Sam Bradford, then on to the owner meetings. No hurry to sign guys that are coming in to visit with Rams. Any word on Leonard Little? No word yet on James Hall or Little. Meeting with Bradford was expected. He is looking more and more like the Rams guy.
5:02p-- I'm Just Saying. Randy IJS: President Obama go focus on healthcare, quit focusing on basketball. Rammer IJS: Fess Parker an icon to the baby boomers. D'Marco's IJS: Tim Tebow is still not going to go before the third round even though he changed his throwing motion. Chad Henne said he still isn't a NFL QB.
5:15p-- St Louis Rams linebacker James Laurinitas joins the Fast Lane.
5:33p-- NCAA tournament talk. Tigers had some lapses, but forced Clemson into more lapses. Mizzou caused alot of disruptions. Mizzou played much smarter basketball in the second half. Mizzou may be worn out for the next round. It has been a bad few days for the A-10.
5:48p-- Parting Shots.

The Fast Lane Show Note - Wednesday 3.17.10
It is officially over for the Blues?
2:04p-- Take three.
Rammer's take: It's over for the Blues. He said it yesterday that last night's game was a must win game. How do you make the Blue's organization better?
Jim's take: The Blue's need a defensemen. He hates when he doesn't sign, the Blue's say we were in the conversation for Chris Pronger. Not critical of the youth, feels as if they didn't bring enough experience.
D'Marco's take: He hates when people say things are over. Everyone should still believe.
2:15p-- Are sports becoming too soft? NHL wants to adopt new rule, outlawing blind side hits to the head before the end of this year. NFL wants to pass rule to help protect defenseless receiver. Rammer asks Jim and D'Marco if this is a trend in sports to change game. D'Marco says he believes it is more for Television ratings then protecting players. It makes no sense to make a defensive player wait to hit a receiver. Jim says defensive backs have a lot to process this just adds more. Rammer asks how you balance blood versus skill. Defense wins but offense sells.
2:32p-- Rams draft talk. Jim says the best thing for Rams right now may be to trade down to take Sam Bradford of Jimmy Clausen. D'Marco says that they were content with their quarterback last year but this year you have the same problem, so you go with history and take the best available player. Jim says there is no short term solution. This is going to be a long process. Teams are not giving up their strategy. The NFL is full of misinformation.
2:50p-- More Ram's discussion. How do the moves made impact the staff? Jim says you have to give the guys a chance to improve, maybe not on wins. They have to be competitive on a week to week basis. Rammer says there is a lot of pressure no matter who you choose. Jim says you can't miss on first round picks. D'Marco says run the ball, play defense and run the clock.
3:00p-- TIOLI: Rammer TIOLI: We all overrated the talent of the Blues? D'Marco takes it. Jim leaves it, loves David Perron and Patrik Berglund, young guns are doing fine. D'Marco TIOLI: If you were Tim Tebow you would accept invitation to New York for Draft? Rammer takes it, Jim leaves it. Jim TIOLI: Richie Incognito signs with Dolphins, good move or bad move? D'Marco takes it as good move. Rammer takes it as well because of Bill Parcels short leash.
3:15p-- Earl Austin Jr. in studio with the Guys, for a little tournament talk. The guys talking about Kwamain Mitchell's move last night. Anyone outside of the three seeds has a chance to win tournament. Maryland could get some wins, but other than that nobody has a chance behind the two seeds. Any upsets in this year’s bracket? Earl has all one seeds in the final four, but does have some upsets lower in bracket. Is Kansas still the favorite? Earl says yes they are but it won't be as easy as they think.
3:30p-- Earl Austin Jr. still in the studio discussing the NCAA tournament. Not enough talk about Mizzou vs. Clemson. Mizzou needs to get back to the kind of defense they should be playing. Mizzou needs to make shots and get the fast pace game going. Earl has Mizzou beating Clemson. The experience from previous tournaments should help. Can Xavier get to sweet sixteen? Earl says he think they can. What bracket is the easiest? Earl says the south, for Duke, should be the easiest, because a lot of the teams limped in.
3:45p-- Earl Austin Jr. sticks around with the guys for another segment. Talking about expanding tournament. If you can finish almost last in your conference and still make it to the NCAA tournament or the NIT. SLU in the CBI and win. Will play again Monday. Defense was great but the offense was lacking. Team is hitting the wall, especially since they play such tough defense.
4:02p-- Hot topic. The St Louis Blues. Rammer thinks it’s over and they can't make the playoffs. With all the teams that are ahead of them, it is a tough hill to climb. D'Marco thinks that last season was a fluke. Everyone got caught up in it. Why does Tom Casey think they didn't get a guy that will help at NHL level? Casey thinks it is because everyone wants their young guys and they don't want to give them up. Jim says Davis Payne brings a lot to the table. He has them playing well, but defensive miscues are hurting them. Least secured job of the four major sports is head coach of NHL team.
4:20p-- Greatest Team In St Louis Sports History: Today's matchup, 1999-2000 Blues vs. 1985 Cardinals. Blues had balanced scoring and the goaltending was pretty good. Rammer votes for Cardinals, Jim votes for Cardinals, and Tom Casey votes for the Cardinals, D'Marco votes for the Blues. The fans vote the winner as the Cardinals 56% to 44%. Tomorrow the matchup is the 2007 Missouri football team vs. 1967 Cardinals.
4:30p-- Rams insider Brian Stull joins the show. What do the Rams see in Mark Setterstrom? Stully says they like him at many positions. Hank Fraley has open competition. There is no set starting line yet. Fraley just wants to play. Rams probably won't spend draft pick on Lineman this year. Nai'll Diggs may sign with the Rams. Diggs would be veteran presence the Rams may need.
4:45p-- I'm just saying. Rammer, I'm just saying NFL coaches will be teaching shadow tag techniques.
5:06p-- Grant Wistrom joins the Fast Lane. Suh is an excellent football player, and is also a good person. It is not like you are drafting a Laurence Phillips. You can learn technique, he’s quick, he’s explosive, and he controls the game. The Ram's have so many needs right now it is tough to say, you have to draft best available player. Click below to listen to entire interview.
5:15p-- Joe Strauss the Cardinals insider from 101ESPN and the Saint Louis Post Dispatch. Joe went and watched the Marlins since the Cardinals were off. Jaime Garcia looked good, should he be up in the big leagues. Not a lot of positives from the bullpen which could mean Garcia could be a long reliever, or fifth starter, or go back to Memphis. Strauss has not seen him have a bad session since he got to Florida. The bullpen has injuries and mechanic issues. It will be difficult for team to sign Albert after the season. If he wants to be highest paid player, the Cardinals may not be able to go there. Strauss says there will have to be some kind of compromise.
5:35p-- Greg Doyel, National columnist for CBSSports.com. Greg says everyone got screwed, get over it. Kansas is complaining about how tough the region they are in. If you are good as you are suppose to be, you will the games. D'Marco says Kansas did screwed, they should be where Duke is. Greg says all we are talking about is the sweet sixteen. All the hooplah comes down to the elite eight. Click below to listen to the entire interview.
5:48p-- Parting Shots.
