Who's Older?
Joe or Joe?
Guitarist extraordinaire Joe Walsh is a year older today (11/20). He's been a busy boy, starting with James Gang, then Barnstorm and The Eagles. His solo career isn't too shabby either. Here's a joke I heard him tell during a concert with Glenn Frey... a grasshopper walks into a bar, and the bartender says, "Hey, we've got a drink named after you." The grasshopper says, "You've got a drink named Steve?"
The other Joe celebrating a birhday today is our Vice President, Joe Biden. So, who's older?
Joe Biden 67
Joe Walsh 62

C'mon Rod!
jeez...
British band The Faces is getting ready to tour without their most famous face. An extensive 2010 tour will happen minus frontman Rod Stewart. Guitarist Ronnie Wood (now of the Rolling Stones), keyboardist Ian McLagan and drummer Kenney Jones have all asked Rod the Mod to join them, but Ian told Billboard, "If we don't do it very soon, one of us is gonna check out. We've been waiting and waiting for Rod to say yes; now he's finally said no." McLagan continued that Stewart was busy with other projects.
Other projects?! Rod, do you mean to tell the us that your album of cover songs, "Soulbook" is more important than a world tour by The Faces?!? I don't get it.
There's no dates for The Faces yet, but, Ian McLagan will play Off Broadway at 3509 Lemp Ave on Tuesday (11/24) at 8p.

Number One Song
4 years after band breaks up!
This morning I played "When I'm With You" by Sheriff and was reminded about the very unusual circumstances surrounding the song and the band. It was originally released in 1983 and it did very well in Sheriff's home-country of Canada, but, not so good in America. Two years later, the band broke up citing internal differences. Here's where the story gets interesting. In 1989, a New York City DJ rediscovered "When I'm With You" and started playing it regularly. Pretty soon, it caught on across the nation and went all of the way to #1 on the Billboard chart - four years after the band broke up! Sheriff singer Freddy Curci tried to get the boys back together, but, no go.
Supposedly, Freddy has the world record for holding a note the longest... the last note of "When I'm With You."
I'm sure you realize that the photo isn' the band. Do you know what it's from?

Bad Company Reunites
with surprise guest
Paul Rodgers, Mick Ralphs and Simon Kirke - all original members of Bad Company - will take the stage together for the first time in 30 years this coming spring. And there's more good news. Joe Perry of Aerosmith will be adding his distinctive guitar licks to the mix! An 8-date tour is planned for April, 2010 and all of the shows are in the UK. But I'm thinking (and hoping) that if all goes well, a North American summer tour is inevitable.
