Okay, Plot holes from hell:rnrnSo WHY did the command module fall out of the ship in the first place?rnrnWHY did the mothership stop on Earth? If they were looking to go home, where were they before Earth?rnrnHow spaceworthy was a ship with a big [Naughty language removed.] hole drilled in it? And who could patch it if Christopher and Son were the only ones on the mothership? And why would Christopher leave without taking all the Prawns? If the leetle-beety plasma rifles were so bad [Naughty language removed.], you'd think the mothership would have some motha' shippin' powerful weapons of it's own.rnrn1.2 million prawns and THREE (two and a half) were high-functioning leaders?rnrnAnd, like Sleestaks, you know they are the smart ones because they wear the Home Depot vests?rnrnHow many times did Wikus use that stupid cell phone and not realize/forget they were using it to locate him? Five?rnrnThere are some movies that take the viewer even deeper into their tapestry with every viewing. This is not one of them. This is a movie that falls apart with a modicum of scrutiny. If M. Knight had directed this movie, the critical community would be on it like Papparazzi on a Lohan pony show. rnrn

I thought the mainstream critical community piled-on this movie a little too harshly. It's a good flick. With the exception of the final scene, it was very true to the book.rnrnThe makeup thing is a legitimate criticism. But... The guy was playing 18 - 45. There's only so much you can do with that before you are exhaggerating to make a point.rnrnAnd costumes... The dude was naked. What are you going to do with a naked man to show era costumes? Make a point of showing how shaved his pubes are?rnrnNo. It was true to common sense.rnrnI will admit that Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams - while both fine actors - were not the best fit for these roles. I can think of ten actresses who would have been better for Claire. The role of Henry, on the other hand, is a very tough role to fill and after a weekend of thinking about it, I still cant offer another actor who can play 18 to 45, do a lot of noodie work, and be both sexy and bookish at the same time.
